A furry Christmas poem…

A Most Carnivorous Christmas
Twas the night before Christmas; in the house, not a sound.
The critters were zonked out, their bellies so round.
The fridge was all cleaned out; the freezer was bare
In hopes it would fill with a bounty so rare.
The dogs on the couch and the cats in their tree;
No doubt all were dreaming of a nice RMB.
Dad in his pj’s and me in my gown;
I’d just finished mopping the kitchen floor down
When out in the yard I heard such a racket;
I slipped on my shoes and grabbed a warm jacket.
The moon was quite bright, and the sky was so clear;
The stars were all twinkling–wait, was that a DEER!?
I followed the shadow out back of the shed,
And what I saw next had me scratching my head:
A great St Bernard, with a jingle bell collar!
Then from inside my house, I heard someone holler:
“Here’s beef ribs and goat meat and oxtails and deer!
Chicken and rabbit and pork–have no fear!”
I ran in my kitchen, and guess who I found?
Looking like St Nick, but dressed all in brown?
Why, it’s SANTA PAWS, that wonderful guy
Who each Christmas Eve comes down out of the sky
And blesses our furkids with toys and with treats,
And gives to our carnivores yummy RAW MEATS!
He stocked my fridge and freezer with organs and such,
Then he pointed to something–oh, this was too much!
“For you,” he said proudly, “a chest freezer at last;
Fifteen cubic feet, and it runs on dog gas.”
He lifted the lid; it was full to the brim
With hog heads and green tripe, and deer meat and trim.
My heart was near bursting; I wept tears of joy.
What blessings, what feasts, what good food! Boy oh boy!
He laughed at my happiness, and that’s when I saw
The buckle of his belt was a shiny gold paw.
“Your house-wolves and wildcats deserve only the best!
Their perfect diet is here in this chest.”
He gave a sharp whistle; in came the St B.
I gave him a scratch and then half a turkey.
He scarfed it right down and gave me a big kiss.
Santa Paws laughed, and then he said this:
“Each Christmas Eve I’ll visit your place,
And I best not find kibble, not even a trace!
“Empty your freezer, I’ll fill it up right,
Stock it with goodies, packed in nice and tight.
“I might bring some toys, a Kong or a ball,
But proper nutrition is the best gift of all!”
His dog gave a WOOF as if to agree;
I motioned to him, shh, Dad’s sleeping, you see?
We went out to the yard where his sleigh was parked;
He hooked up the St B, who smiled and barked.
And Santa Paws said, as though it were law,
“Merry Christmas, and keep feeding those carnivores RAW!”

Dorset Dog Rescue - Please help

Hi All,

Today’s blog will be written angry. Angry that there are people in this country who like to call themselves human and therefore i detest the fact that they have something in common with me. But i dont think they are human because humans have compassion and show kindness and express love. These, ‘things’ don’t do any of those. So they must be something else, but just look like humans. So i’ll call them ‘things’ from now on.

We had an email this morning from our friend Julia who works for Dorset Dog Rescue, about a Springer Spaniel called Sammy. Unfortunately, Sammy had one of those ‘things’ for an owner for the first few years of his life and it is a massive understatement to say that Sammy didn’t have the best start in life.

You see, some’thing’ was amazingly given a pellet gun (i thought only humans were allowed those) and used Sammy as target practice. When Sammy had wounds, it didn’t help him or clean them up, it just left him to suffer with them. sammy3sammy2Sammy could hardly walk as his back legs could not support his body weight through sheer weakness from malnutrition. sammy1

Sammy’s eyes were also in a terrible state. sammy4

Now, though, Sammy is well on the road to recovery and has put on an extra 7kg. Julia is using The Pet Answer to help speed up Sammy’s recovery and as you can see from the below pic, Sammy is looking a lot better; his coat has regained it’s condition and his eyes are looking much better.

sammy5

 We are very proud to be associated with Dorset Dog Rescue as they do some fantastic work and long may it continue. Julia and Liz do some amazing stuff with the dogs that they rescue and we are glad that we can help too.

Now, i would like the ‘thing’ who did this to Sammy to be sterilised.

Please forward the link to this blog so we can help raise awareness of animal cruelty together.

Many thanks.

Guest blogger, Nikki Brown.

Hi All,

For this blog entry, i thought i’d let someone else do the talking. Now i don’t let anyone post an entry onto my blog. No siree. I only let complete experts in their field have a say, which is why Nikki Brown, The UK Dog Whisperer, is writing today’s post. Enjoy…

“Being a vegetarian myself, it took me a little time to convert Annie onto the raw meat and bone diet, but i am so glad i did! The difference in her health and well being is amazing! Not to mention her teeth, they are gleaming! No more tooth decay or mouth rot and i know she feels a whole lot better in herself!

Dried dog food is so bad for your dog! It’s full of preservatives, sugars and e numbers, not to mention very low amounts of low quality meat. Over 50% of the ingredients in dried food is cereals which upset your dogs natural balance.

Dogs are carnivores and need 100% meat…. not the 4% that some of the leading brands put in.. how on earth is a dog supposed to feel good or function properly on 4% cooked low quailty meat?

I have recorded a shocking amount of cases of aggressive behaviour and ill health with the clients i see.

98% of dog cases that come to me are being fed a well known brand of dog food in a blue bag that contains red and green biscuits in them! Everyone knows the one i am talking about!

When we have taken the dog off this food and replaced it with a natural meat and bone diet, the results speak for themselves.. a complete turn around in the dogs health and behaviour!

Not only are the pet food manufactures making a massive amount of profit selling this rubbish to us, the vets are coining in on the disease that this food is causing later on in the dogs life.

We are our dogs pack leaders and its our job to provide the best food for them.. We have taken away their natural hunting skills and taken away the choice of what they eat. Isn’t it up to us as their packleaders to fulfil their needs and give them the proper fuel they need?

If dogs could talk to us they would say  “Please give me some proper meat and bone! ”

There is NO marrowbone in dried dog food and they need marrowbone in their diet.

Do your dog the biggest favour and ditch that sack of dried food you have for him and get yourself down the local butchers and buy him some raw meat on the bone!

He will love you forever!!!

And add a teaspoon of THE PET ANSWER to the meat before your feed your dog and help remove all those toxins that the pet food manufatures have put into your dog!”

Raw Meaty Bones

Your dog, your cat, your rabbit are all animals. I know this is an obvious statement but i just thought i’d remind every pet owner which reads our blog. A lion is an animal too, so is a tiger. Any questions so far? Yes, you sir…what on earth am i going on about?…good question.

When you watch David Attenbrough’s programmes about lions on the plains of Africa, how many times do you see a pack of lions hunt their zebra and then drag it back to base and stick it on the BBQ? You dont. They eat it raw because that is the exact form of food which their bodies require for optimal health. But, this is common knowledge and it’s perfectly normal for you to see lions eating raw meat. Because they are animals. Right?

Now read the opening line of this blog again. Go on.

So, why do pet food manufacturers insist on making dog and cat foods with cooked meat in them. I understand that there will be microbiological issues, but this is clearly not the best form of food for your pets. They cannot process cooked meat properly and it leads to all kinds of problems from bad teeth to poor digestion.

Also, the ‘meat’ they use in their formulations is such a poor quality and quantity, that even if they could process cooked meats, they still wouldn’t benefit from it.

This is a great website if you want more information www.rawmeatybones.com and our good friend Nikki Brown (The Canine Angel) www.canineangel.co.uk is a great person to chat to about this and you can also watch this video she made with her dog Annie if you need convincing further http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/video/video.php?v=168372161374&ref=share. Oh and by the way, Annie, Nikki’s dog, is on The Pet Answer! Good dog!

Over and out,

Us.

Stuff to do…

Well, lots to do in the garden at this time of year. Sheltering the plants which dont like frost, pulling up the tomato plants, cutting back the bushes, and topping up the compost heap.

But, i wanted to share a great tip i learnt from our resident garden expert, David Bates. You see, before, i used to rake up all the leaves on the grass which, was a pain in the bum. Especially when you have three very curious chickens following you around and jumping into any pile that you try to make and scratching them across the garden the moment your back is turned.

However, David told me to re-adjust the blade height on my rotary mower to its highest setting and then run it over the lawn as normal. I did this and hey presto! It sucks all the leaves up…great! Although it only works with a rotary mower.

Now when i tell Carrie that i’m going to hoover the lawn, she doesn’t look at me and roll her eyes like she did the first time i told her!

Happy gardening,

Us.

The 10/10 Initiative

Hi All,

Today we did something great. We signed up to the 10/10 initiative (www.1010uk.org) designed to promote the concept of reducing your carbon footprint by 10% in 2010.

We are now committed to achieving this and our first step is to become a paperless company, and, what little paper we do use, will be Sheep Poo Paper (www.sheeppoopaper.co.uk). Baaa.

We feel that this initiative is vital to be a part of and if you are as ethically minded as we are, then you can join in too. You see, lots of people still don’t believe climate change is happening, but it is, slowly and silently. I know that on your own you can’t ’save the world’ but you can make your own environment and eco-friendly as possible. For example you could:

1. Use less electricity

2. Start a compost heap

3. Recycle or re-use things

4. Keep chickens (won’t do a lot for climate change but it’s great fun!)

5. Grow your own veg

6. Drive your car sensibly or ride your bike for shorter journeys

7. Buy products with less packaging or choose products which aren’t packaged in plastic.

8. Use chemical free cleaners and washing up liquid  (www.ecover.com)

9. Only fill your kettle with the water you need for cups of tea. mmmmm, tea.

10. Stop reading lists and start eco-proofing your home!

Over and out.

Kick Start Boot Camp

Hi All,

Thought i’d blog about my meeting this afternoon with a great guy called Kevin Raison. Kevin is the founder of Kick Start Boot Camp www.kickstartbootcamp.co.uk and is passionate about his profession. We met last week and it was clear that we had the same principles and ethics so Kevin very kindly invited me to have a recorded interview with him about the use of supplements to remain healthy and active.

Of course, i’ll be talking about the benefits of fulvic acids for athletes, especially following our great feedback from Liam Doyle (top gaelic footballer), but it will be great to hear Kevin’s ideas too.

If possible i’ll be videoing the interview so i’ll post it as soon as it’s done for you all to see.

Over and out.

The Canine Angel

Hi All,

We are very excited today to being going to visit the UK’s best animal behaviour expert, Nikki Brown.  Here’s an excerpt from her website www.canineangel.co.uk :

Nikki Brown is fast becoming known as the UK’s Dog Whisperer and has helped countless dog owners and their dogs, overcome both health and behavioural problems through bridging the gap between human and animal communication.

Nikki’s methods differ from normal dog training, as she is a firm believer that animals respond far better to natural pet therapy, when overcoming issues regarding phobias, aggression, depression, nervousness and general disobedience.

Nikki is qualified in both human and dog psychology and works with the dog’s natural instincts and behaviours.

Nikki has an amazing knack at reading the dogs mind and being able to communicate with them in a language that they understand.

This results in, Nikki gaining your dogs trust & respect, so that it will follow her commands because it wants to not because it fears her.

We are going to introduce The Pet Answer to her which will add another option for helping her clients get their dogs back into tip top condition.

We’ll keep you posted,

Us.
